Musician Sudan Archives explores non-western string traditions

**Musician Brittney Denise Parks, higher recognized by her stage identify Sudan Archives, is on a mission to indicate the violin in a unique gentle.

The 29 yr outdated violinist singer-songwriter not too long ago carried out on the West Holts Stage on day 4 of Glastonbury music competition within the UK. 

Her music is an exploration of non-western string traditions, unconventional pop and R&b melodies, in addition to rap impressed by her boyfriend and collaborator, rapper Nocando.

The artist’s breakthrough album “Pure Brown Promenade Queen” was launched in 2022, along with her observe Homemaker even making it to Barack Obama’s favorite music of 2022 playlist. 

The L.A.-based Parks taught herself the violin as a toddler, studying play by ear at church. 

“I simply was actually into fiddle music. So I began like simply making an attempt to be taught fiddle music,” she remembers. “And there was an after-school program known as Fiddle Membership, so we discovered plenty of Irish music and stuff, however once I moved to a unique college, there wasn’t an orchestra or any after college program. So I simply taught myself extra in church play by ear. After which since I did not actually have any coaching, I did not actually have the coaching and abilities to love, pursue faculty and go to highschool like that. However I mainly began to include digital music with the violin.”

The artist describes her music as “smooth punk”.
