New North Okanagan wildfire, east of Armstrong, estimated at 10 hectares

A second wildfire was discovered in the North Okanagan not long after a third was discovered south of Vernon.

The Vlem Creek wildfire is located around nine km directly east of Armstrong and is located in rugged terrain just north of Silver Star Provincial Park.

Initial estimates for the fire were five hectares, but they were later increased to 10 by Friday.

It was believed to be Rank 3, which is an organized front with moderate spread and occasional tree candling.

The Vlem Creek fire is similar to the Cosens Creek wildfire in Vernon. It is believed that it was human-caused.

BCWS reports that the fire is very visible to the surrounding communities.
