NATO chief to visit Canada for meetings with Trudeau on Ukraine, Arctic defence
NATO Secretary-General Jens Stoltenberg is making a visit to Canada next week.
Meetings between Stoltenberg, Prime Minister Justin Trudeau will focus on the ongoing Russian invasion in Ukraine, climate change, and Arctic defenses.
The Prime Minister’s Office says the pair will stop at one of the sites of the North Warning System, part of Canada’s Norad defences, in Cambridge Bay, Nunavut, on Thursday.
They will be visiting Cold Lake Air Force Base, Alta. the next day. The trip will conclude with a bilateral meet.
Stoltenberg was last in Canada in July 2019, while Trudeau met him in Spain in June 2019.
Trudeau, Anita Anand, Defence Secretary, and Anita Anand made plans to expand the Canadian-led Battlegroup in Latvia to a combat-capable Brigade.
