Japanese plastic food artists get creative

An exhibition in Tokyo featured a variety of plastic food sculptures by Japanese artisans, including a “leaning pizza tower” and a chicken Tetris-game.
These rock-solid noodle soups, as well as crunchy plastic snacks, have been displayed outside Japanese restaurants for many years. They are called “shokuhin Sampuru”, or food samples.
The exhibition featured 60 sculptures that showcased the artist’s extraordinary skills.
The Iwasaki Group, Japan’s largest manufacturer of sampuru is celebrating its 90th year.
