Paul McCartney mourns ‘amazing’ Barbara Walters — they shared surprising connection

Paul McCartney is mourning Barbara Walters, who died Friday on the age of 93. McCartney’s spouse, Nancy, is Walters’ second cousin.

“Nancy and I are so saddened by the information of her pricey cousin Barbara Walters’ passing. The 2 of them loved a deep loving relationship over a few years, and I used to be proud to share a few of these particular moments,” McCartney wrote Saturday on Fb.

“Barbara was an incredible lady who greater than held her personal within the early days of male-dominated tv and went on to develop into a worldwide movie star recognized for her many perceptive interviews with stars from each stroll of life. We are going to miss her however all the time keep in mind her with nice fondness.”

Walters revealed on a 2007 episode of “The View” that trucking heiress Nancy Shevell is her second cousin. Nancy, 63, and Paul, 80, had been courting on the time, and Walters had performed matchmaker.

“Her mom, who died, was my first cousin. And I’ve been very near this younger lady,” Walters stated. “She’s separated from her husband, who’s a pleasant man. The wedding wasn’t going nicely, and so they’re separated.”

The couple wed in 2011 in a lavish London ceremony. On the time, Walters stated she cried through the hourlong “stunning and fantastic” nuptials.

McCartney joins legions of celebrities paying tribute to the legendary newswoman.

“With out Barbara Walters there wouldn’t have been me — nor every other lady you see on night, morning, and day by day information,” Oprah Winfrey captioned a picture of herself with the late journalist on Instagram.

Star Jones, who co-hosted “The View” with Walters when the present premiered in 1997, known as the longtime journalist her “sister … mom … pal …colleague … [and] mentor” in a tweet Friday.

The lawyer, 60, added, “I owe Barbara Walters greater than I may ever repay. Relaxation nicely.”
