Spanish football fan walking to Qatar ‘arrested in Iran’

Santiago Sanchez Cogedor’s mom says the Spanish overseas ministry confirmed her son was being held in Iran and was in good well being.

A Spanish soccer fan who got down to stroll to Qatar to observe the World Cup has been arrested in Iran, his mom says after he dropped out of contact for a number of weeks.

The Spanish ambassador to Iran is asking the Iranian authorities to go to Sanchez Cegedor, his mom mentioned with out saying what he’s accused of or the place he’s being held.

There was no official remark from Iranian authorities.

Sanchez Cogedor had been documenting his journey on Instagram, and in his final publish on October 1, he mentioned he was about to enter Iran from a northern Iraqi village.
