Salah Tawfiq Sawafta (58) was shot in the head as a result of an Israeli army raid on Tubas.

Ramallah, occupied West Bank – Israeli forces killed a Palestinian during a raid in Tubas, northern West Bank.

According to the Palestinian health ministry, the man was identified as Salah Tawfiq Seeafta, a 58-year old man who died from his injuries after he was shot in his head on Friday.

According to WAFA state news agency and other local media outlets Sawafta was returning home after dawn prayers at the mosque nearby his home when he got shot.

According to a video taken at the time of shooting, Sawafta appears unarmed and trying to enter a store. Al Jazeera was unable to independently verify the video.

At dawn on Friday, Israeli forces attacked Tubas. “During the activity in the village of Tubas, a number of armed men threw Molotov cocktails and opened fire at the forces who responded with fire,” the Israeli army said in a statement.

Another Palestinian man sustained leg injuries from live ammunition.

Sawafta had sent out invitations to his daughter’s wedding recently, due to take place next week.

The Israeli army raids Palestinian villages and towns almost daily to conduct search and arrest raids that often lead to the death or injury of Palestinians.
