Indigenous Aymara women play golf in Bolivia

Two indigenous Aymara ladies play golf in conventional costume on the unique La Paz Golf Membership.

They’re referred to as ‘Cholitas’ and are taking part in in a match for the membership’s staff.

Golf, which has no roots in Bolivia, is mostly thought of a sport for the rich.

However Martha Mamani and Teresa Zárate, who work within the upkeep division of the golf course, have been drawn to the game for 37 years.

In Bolivia, there are solely 5 golf golf equipment. Nearly all of golfers are males.

The worth of the match has not but been decided. Mamani says that previously they’ve competed for objects resembling the most recent cell phones, all of which have been financed by membership members.

About 20 staff are collaborating within the sport to fraternise, stated the overall supervisor of the La Paz golf membership, Víctor Hugo Aguirre.
