Kelowna RCMP are investigating a homicide in front of a downtown nightclub.
Officers were called to the scene of an altercation that took place in front of a nightclub in 200 Block of Lawrence Avenue, at 11:11 p.m.
A male victim was found injured on the ground. The victim was found on the ground and was taken to Kelowna General Hospital. He was declared deceased shortly after.
Police report that one man fled the area on foot.
The Kelowna Serious Crime Unit has taken over the homicide investigation. It is being supported by the Forensic ID Section, Assault/Robbery Unit and the General Investigation Support Team.
At this time, no one has been charged or taken into custody. Investigators continue to look for evidence in the area.
Police do not believe that the victim and suspect knew each other before this incident.
“We have identified a number of individuals in the area who witnessed the altercation,” said Insp. Beth McAndie, an investigative service officer with the Kelowna Detachment.
